In its latest consultative Shura Council, the Ennahda Party announced that the resignation of Hama Jbali, its secretary general, was officially accepted and that Ali Laarayed was appointed to replace him. Besides, the Shura council called on the party’s leadership to continue consultations with the different political and social actors and stakeholders in order to reach consensus on a presidential candidate in order to ensure the success of the political transition and avoid polarisation. A Tunisian website reported that Ghannouchi had told a local radio station, on Sunday, that he would not rule out nominating the career diplomat and former minister of foreign affairs Kamel Morjane as the presidential candidate of Tunisian consensus.
