Last Friday, the General National Congress amended article 30 of the constitutional declaration. The wording of the article now recognizes that issues related to Libyan ethnic groups will be adopted by consensus in future legislation. Therefore, future legislation and the upcoming constitution will not subject Amazigh cultural and identity demands to referendum or assembly vote.
